Creating Stronger Communities
Anjali has been a proud Citizen of the United States since 1996.
“I came alone to the United States from Central Africa, Zambia with only a suitcase and a college scholarship. All my dreams became my reality through hard work and perseverance. In the last 23 years I worked various jobs, whether it was washing dishes to pay my bills in college, working as a child care provider to make ends meet, or as a nurse aid in senior living facilities. I knew that here in America, hard work and persistence will get you to where you want to be. It’s in those early days that I realized respecting others and pushing myself through adversity leads you in the path of fulfillment.”
Anjali has worked in several industries including health care, retail, information technology and now as the owner of a small business specializing in digital Information technology.
Community service has always been important to her. Before immigrating to the U.S., Anjali volunteered in Africa on HIV campaigns during a time when people were afraid to talk about this issue. She had the courage to lead campaigns and rallies in order to educate her community and help the affected people. In Orlando, Anjali’s been involved in numerous charities such as Feeding the Children, IHeart Organization, Children's Safety Village, Base Camp and many more.
We must remain focused on creating economic opportunity for everyone. A strong economic development strategy cannot only rely on job creation, it must also be focused on improving the quality of life for our workforce. We need to focus on making homes more affordable and address the wage gap. We need to work on creating public/private partnerships and expanding services and accessibility.
Anjali’s reasons for running for Orange County Commission:
Love for our community.
Desire to unite our community to facilitate the success of others.
Passion to work together and solve issues that matter the most — like protecting our environment, improving our public schools, transportation, and providing affordable housing.
Creating a safer, stronger and smarter community in our home, District 5.
These issues are affecting us in our neighborhoods, our children in school, and in the workplace. It’s time to work to make Orange County safer by providing new opportunities for everyone.
Anjali strongly believes that by uniting together, we can make a difference and create a stronger and safer community.
